Every great story needs a world to call home, and for Secrets of the Sky Gods, that place is Akiponahai, Nest of the Sky Gods.
The island forms a central pillar in the story of its world, both in its role as the heart of trade and as an untouchable force of nature. It is a land of warmth and welcome, where the Sun and Moon take their rest, where music gives birth to magic and myths still walk among the people.
But nothing lasts forever.
Akiponahai is a paradise teetering on the brink of collapse, threatened not only by malevolent outside forces but by its own internal strife. The people have lost their way, forgotten the meaning of their own greeting: Kiama Korora, Warmth and Welcome. Empty words now, in hearts hardened by hurt. Gone are the days when foreigners were greeted with open arms. Gone are the days when the lost and hopeless were given sanctuary. Gone, maybe, are the Sky Gods who created this place.
And so enters Runa. A foreigner. A thief. A survivor. Friendless and fearful, she’s been thrust into the island’s inner turmoil by fate or destiny or maybe just bad luck. And it has fallen upon her fragile shoulders to discover the secrets lost by the islanders, to re-open their hearts and remind them of who they were meant to be.
But it is a task she will never accomplish if she cannot first open her own.
